Delete your account

You can ask us to delete your UmnisBooks account and the personal data attached to it at any time. You do not need to be signed in to make the request.
How to request deletion
Email privacy@umnis.com from the address on the account, with the subject “Account deletion request”. If you no longer have access to that address, use our support form instead and tell us which account you mean.
We verify that the request really comes from the account holder, then delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email when it is done.
You can also delete your account yourself from Settings in the app, which takes effect straight away.
What happens straight away
- Your account is closed and can no longer be signed in to
- Your name, email address, password, Google sign-in link and profile photo are removed
- Your access to your library ends — every purchase, rental and subscription
- Your highlights, notes, bookmarks, reading progress and reviews are no longer linked to your name or email address. Reviews you posted may stay visible, without your name
- Notes you published for other readers stay available to them, shown as by “Deleted User”
Within 30 days of the deletion
- Your PostHog analytics profile is deleted together with its events and any session recordings
- We send Google Analytics a request to delete the data tied to your account
On our providers’ own schedules
- Google removes the requested analytics data from reports within about 72 hours, then erases it from its servers on its own deletion schedule, which we do not control
- Crash and error reports (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics) are not deleted early: they are deleted automatically 90 days after they were sent. Current versions of the app send them without your name, email address or account ID, but reports sent by older versions may include your email address or account ID, and reports can include an identifier for your device or app installation
What we have to keep
- Transaction records, which tax and accounting law requires us to keep for seven years after the transaction. These are held on their own and are not used to build a profile of you.
Deletion is permanent
Books and audiobooks you have bought or rented cannot be restored afterwards, and we cannot transfer them to another account. If you only want to stop using the app for a while, signing out keeps your library intact.
If you keep your account, crash and error reports (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics) are kept for 90 days and PostHog analytics events for 12 months. For the full picture of what we collect and how long we keep it, see our Privacy Policy.
